the Beautiful Island of Kefalonia.

The view from Kefalonia towards Ithaca and the mainland.
Every house
has its own story to tell and the Olive Tree is no exception. Our journey
began many years ago when we fell in love with the island and its people and,
having decided to build a house, we began our search for the perfect location.
After several failed attempts we came across an old olive tree standing
sad and forlorn in the middle of an abandoned field; we sat beneath it to admire
the spectacular views and realised that this was it, our mission had finally
ended.
Now you too can relax and unwind in this superb landscape, silent but for the sighing of the breeze through the trees and the distant tinkle of sheep bells playing their own secret tunes, watching as buzzards and kestrels wheel and soar, swifts and swallows swoop and dive while the fishermen haul in their catch out to sea.
At
night the haunting hoot of the Scops owl can be heard as you sit and watch for
the elusive firefly as it plays in the trees by the pool. We know that this is
undoubtedly the ultimate location to experience the unique gold and red show of
the setting sun as it sinks slowly into the deep blue vastness of the Ionian
Sea.
The
house lies in what must be the most
peaceful setting you can possibly imagine;
at times even the cicadas are quiet, dreaming the day away in this incredible
setting known locally as ‘Vandorou’ or the ‘Golden Land’ and we are certain that you will want to return.
